Welcome

The National Pilots Association represents the 1,600+ pilots who fly for AirTran Airways.The Company is currently projecting that it will hire its 2,000th pilot in 2009. The NPA flies the youngest fleet in the industry, the average age of an AirTran aircraft is 4 years.

Our Fleet

Our fleet is made up of 134 Boeing aircraft: 87 B-717-200’s, and 52 B-737-700’s. The fleet will grow to approximately 138 jets by the end of 2008.

Boeing The NPA domicile is located at the nation’s busiest airport Atlanta ’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport where AirTran is the second largest airline after Delta. Approximately 400 of our pilots and their families make their home in the greater Atlanta area.
 
AirTran

AirTran is also one of America 's largest low-fare carriers with more than 700 daily flights serving 52 cities in the U.S. Its top five domestic nonstop markets outside of Atlanta are Orlando , New York (LaGuardia), Tampa , Chicago (Midway) and Baltimore . Flights not originating in Atlanta have increased to 31 percent of total operations as AirTran expands in cities such as Baltimore/Washington, Akron/Canton and Dallas/Fort Worth.

AirTran is a major airline, reporting more that $1 Billion in revenue over the last twelve months.

Statement by the Press Secretary
On Thursday, December 13, 2007, the President signed into law:
H.R. 4343, the "Fair Treatment for Experienced Pilots Act," which raises the mandatory retirement age from 60 years to 65 years for pilots serving on commercial passenger flights within the United States.
